BEST 2019

2019: tanto da riascoltare a rivalutare, ma alla fine il 2019 è stata forse l’annata migliore di questo decennio, guardo la lista e vedo che anche fino alla 50esima posizione ci sono dischi comunque validi, e anche fino a 100 meritano tutti comunque un minimo di attenzione

TOP 100: E’ il momento di Kiwanuka, che metto in testa davanti a vari BIG dell’indie-folk come Callahan e Oldham (ma anche i Mercury Rev in versione country e i Purple Mountains di David Berman a cui dedicherei l’annata) che a distanza di 30 anni ormai continuano ad insegnare stile e scrittura. Baro mettendo i Big Thief come se fosse un doppio, decido per il si a Cave ma solo se accompagnato dal vecchio amico Hugo Race, a Steve Gunn la palma di conferma dell’anno e a Native Harrow quello della sorpresa che rivitalizza la canzone femminile roots. Ma poi è stata anche l’annata dei vecchi che stavolta un po’ ce la fanno (tanto che quest’anno rinuncio alla mia consueta top10 “Vecchi che non ce la fanno” per mancanza di seri candidati), con Springsteen e Morrison che finalmente almeno se la giocano, Cohen che dice la sua anche da morto, Iggy Pop e Neil Young che tengono botta dignitosamente e persino gli Who che sul filo di lana entrano con un disco che, concediamolo, ha finalmente senso.

I Wilco hanno rischiato di finirci ma alla fine il disco mi piace abbastanza da tenerli in top, direi a Beck e Sturgill Simpson premio boiata del 2019 senza dubbi, gli altri 8 si ascoltano ma mi aspettavo di più, anche da Jurado che non stava sbagliando un colpo da un po’

ITALIANS (ORDINE ALFABETICO) Non faccio classifiche, tra i vari che ho sentito quest’anno solo tre dischi in inglese che potrebbero stare anche in top 100 (Gold Mass , Gospel Book Revisited e Edward Abbiati) , per il resto conferme dei due nomi che più seguo in Italia da anni a questa parte (Nada e Cesare Basile), il bel disco di Larocca con Hugo Race, e mi è paiciuto e ho ascoltato molto anche il duetto Di Marco-Donà. Qui però devo ancora sentire Francesco Piu, Cheap Wine e Mandolin Brothers in ambito roots che ancora non ho preso ma ne parliamo nel 2020 :-).
